Pleasanton Police Officers' Association

D.A.R.E. To Resist Drugs and Violence

The Pleasanton Police Officers Association supports the D.A.R.E. program and the
officers who teach it.

Officers attend several courses of training to learn how to teach each of the following programs.

The D.A.R.E. Program consists of seventeen lessons which are taught to the fifth grade at all of the Pleasanton Elementary Schools.

The D.A.R.E. Program is also taught at the Middle Schools. This program is a ten week course designed to reinforce the lessons from the fifth grade. Many of the  lessons discuss topics related to being a good
citizen and having good character to help the community.

A parent program is offered to the parents of the fifth grade students. This is a six week course to assist the parents with their communication skills, awareness of teen drug use, the media, and gangs.

DAREN the Lion represents the courage in all students to resist drugs and
violence
